The Noodle Theory, Kilpauk

It was 2021! We are getting used to the COVID19 thing and 2020 was lost. Tokyo 2020 was rescheduled to 2021! People were still falling sick and cases are under control (that’s what they said). I was introduced to this place by a friend and it was a Friday (Pongal Weekend)! We thought of meeting here and bang! They have outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Mysuru. We went to the Kilpauk outlet in Chennai.

Location – https://g.page/thenoodletheory?share

They are a Pan Asian Live kitchen and you can see how the food is being made through the transparent glass in the picture below. The owners of this Landons Road outlet also own the Bangalore Tiffin House next to this. Classic example of orey kal la rendu manga.

I frankly had no idea what to eat & it was her who did the bill. I got to know the full names just now before the post (: P) and let’s dive into it.

Crunchy Lotus Stem – INR 189

Yes you read it right. Its LOTUS’ stem being deep fried in oil and masala added to it and offered to us. The stem was so good and the crunch it had was amazing. This is their signature dish I would say and it was so good to have it whilst talking about BJP! The extras there were decorated with this were the usual’s that you get with Gobi Manchurian or something like that. I remember I had the most of this stem and she had little. Even if you don’t try any other dish, try at least this and you won’t be disappointed.

Aromatic Paneer – INR 169

We chose to go with this as we had Tofu buns for the main course in mind. Ulagathulaye rendu peruku rendu starter vanginathu nangala than irukum. You can clearly the quantity is good enough for 2 people yet we went ahead with this as the 2nd starter for the day. The paneer was deep fried and the titbits was sprinkled with the sides/veggies nicely diced. The crispness that the paneer had was astounding. Must try here.

Spicy Tofu Bao Buns – INR 179

Bao buns are traditionally Chinese flour buns that are served with stuffing and pickled vegetables. We wanted some spicy thing in this and so we went with Spicy Tofu. Tofu seemed more like paneer. Since its bean curd made from soy milk, it was fluffy. With the veggies pickled as stuffing, they sort of gave me the feel of eating an open burger. The spiciness were infused by the red peppers and the pickles. If you like buns, then you can try this for sure. You can surely eat only 1 bun in full and the other you have to share it for sure. Don’t try eating both!

Tesla Watermelon Ice Tea – INR 69

I sort of took off with its name and it was actually ice tea with watermelon flavor. They have the powder ready in these bottles and just add cold water to make the drink. It was okayish to my taste but served chill, it was refreshing especially after having the spicy Bao buns.

Noodles – INR 229

The Noodle Theory has this concept called “Construct Your Wok” wherein the customer can choose his choice of dish to be made in the wok. Wok is a large, bowl shaped Chinese pan, and basically the fried rice pan you see in all the restaurants. The ingredients such as rice or noodles, vegetables, sauce, proteins and garnishes are to be told so that the cook makes it in front of you. She wanted to have some noodles and so we ordered this. It was good but overpriced. I cannot imagine having this noodles for 200 bucks. Strictly your choice.

I hope you guys are staying safe amidst this 3rd wave. Make sure to get vaccinated. We’ll meet again in the next blog. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for video contents and our Instagram page for awesome pictures and short reels. This is MS signing off!
